Who is coachguru?
I am a high school teacher and coach that loves to play poker. I have been playing for years now. I started playing seriously after I saw the movie Rounders. I was always pretty good when we played in college but after that movie I realized that I really didn’t know as much about the game as I thought. I played in the Main Event of the WSOP in 2005 after winning my seat online from Party Poker(Oh how I miss Party Poker). I made it to day 2 but I didn’t make the money.
Coachguru is my screen name on the online sites. After congress pretty much outlawed online poker I stopped playing online until this past January. I did continue to play about twice a week in a local game. I realized I still had $24 in my Ultimate Bet account and I challenged myself to build that up to $1,000 by the end of February. My next goal is to make that $1,000 turn into $10,000 by June. I want to take that $10,000 to Las Vegas for 2 weeks. This blog should chronicle those events.
